The International Coastal Road crosses the Canal at sector 3b (Km 0.800). The Ministry of Housing and New Urban Communities planned to construct a steel bridge across the Canal. The hydraulic slope stability studies showed the need for protection and consolidation works to avoid the effect of horizontal forces created from soil embankment displacement acting on piles carrying the steel bridge. These works consisted of creating a 50m long wall at each bank of the Canal made of 19 reinforced concrete panels 80cm thick and 40m deep having dimensions that vary from 2.6 to 2.8m.
