Project Description
El-Ananeia Bridge
400 m long twin bridges consisting of three sections. The middle section is a Bowstring arch steel bridge with a span of 40 m provided with inclined crossing two layers of cables.
The second section is a steel bridge with a simply supported multi-girder of span 30 m identical for both of the left and right sides.
The 25 cm reinforced concrete slab decking connected to steel beams by shear connectors is used to cover the floor of the two steel parts.
The third section is a multi box girder concrete bridge that extends for a total length of 300 m
Hydraulic Stability of El-Salam Canal Slopes
The International Coastal Road crosses the Canal at sector 3b (Km 0.800). The Ministry of Housing and New Urban Communities planned to construct a steel bridge across the Canal.
The hydraulic slope stability studies showed the need for protection and consolidation works to avoid the effect of horizontal forces created from soil embankment displacement acting on piles carrying the steel bridge. These works consisted of creating a 50m long wall at each bank of the Canal made of 19 reinforced concrete panels 80cm thick and 40m deep having dimensions that vary from 2.6 to 2.8m.
El-Salam Canal Bridge
The 780m long twin bridges consist of 3 different sections: 525m reinforced concrete box girder bridge, 35m composite steel multi-girder bridge, 150m composite box steel girder bridge and 70m slab-on-pile approach system.
The 25cm reinforced concrete slab decking is connected to the steel bridge boxes by shear connector. The steel part of the bridge is supported on reinforced concrete abutments resting on a pile foundation system.
